- The applicant of this scheme must belong to the minority category. People of caste or religion like Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis can avail benefits under this scheme.
- The applicant will be able to get this subsidized loan only when they are getting education from a recognized educational institution. If the applicant is getting education from abroad, then it is mandatory for the institution to be recognized.
- The applicant must be a student of any higher education. For example, it is mandatory for the applicant to be a student of MPhil, PhD, MBA etc., only then you will get the benefit.
- The government has fixed the annual income limit for the beneficiaries under this scheme, due to which the students with outside income will not be able to get the benefit. The government has planned to provide benefits under this scheme to those people whose family income is 6 lakhs or less.
- Under this scheme, only those students will be able to get the benefits, whose education loan Should be less than 20 lakhs. So this is a major limitation of this scheme. Due to which the applicant student will be able to get education in any corner of the world.

Apart from this, students will get an additional time of 1 year 6 months, during which they will need to find a job. Once this time period is over, the applicant will be required to repay the entire interest and principal amount of the loan.
- Payment of amount: The applicant needs to pay the amount after the completion of his course. However, the student taking the loan can deposit this amount in easy installments as well.
