Ujala Yojana is a scheme launched by the Government of India. This scheme was launched in January 2015 by Shri Narendra Modi. Which is currently the largest LED distribution program in the world. It is implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power. Its main goal is to distribute more than 200 million low power consumption LED light bulbs to people in place of high power consumption bulbs used by them. This will save at least 10.5 billion kWh of electricity.

Now, according to a research, 77 crore such bulbs are used in the country, due to which a lot of electricity is consumed, and which needs to be changed as soon as possible. Under this scheme, about 30 crore LED bulbs have been distributed so far, due to which 15,846 crores have been saved. The Central Government has entered into a $ 220 million loan agreement with the World Bank to further India’s Energy Efficiency Program.
